Ankle Yuan Shi Dian Location: As shown by the red lines in the diagram, it is divided into two parts: the inner ankle and the outer ankle. The inner ankle is primary, whereas the outer ankle is supplementary. Yuan Shi Dian of the inner and outer ankle is located at the lower edge of the ankle bone, each of which is a semicircle facing upward. The points on the inner ankle may also be extended upward along the posterior edge of the tibia about the length of an index nger.
Coverage: The lateral and medial dorsum of the foot (take the midline of the dorsum of foot as the approximate boundary) and the middle and rear plantar region (take the vertical line from the medial and lateral malleolus as the boundaries; the rear portion is the heel of the foot), as shown in the PINK area marked in the diagram.
It can be further subdivided by taking the point straight below the lateral malleolus and the medial malleolus as boundaries to divide the inner and outer Ankle Yuan Shi Dian into two sections (front and back), then :
• The rear part of the inner ankle primarily manages the heel of the foot, and the rear part of the outer ankle manages supplementarily. (Figure 1)
• The front part of the inner ankle primarily manages the mid-plantar and the medial dorsum of the foot. (Figure 2)
• The front part of the outer ankle primarily manages the lateral dorsum of the foot and supplementarily manages the mid-plantar region. (Figure 3)
Dorsum of Foot Yuan Shi Dian Location: As shown by the red lines in the diagram, there are four lines on the dorsum of the foot. Each line starts from the junction between two toes, passes upward by the gap between the two adjacent metatarsophalangeal joints, and continues along the suture of the metatarsal (lumbrical muscle) until the end of it
Coverage: The front of the plantar region to the toes that correspond to the Dorsum of Foot Yuan Shi Dian, as shown in the BLUE area marked in the diagram.
